Bio

Welcome to my WordPress, my name is Matthew Coyte, I am a 19 year old writer with an interest in music, movies and sports, that has been featured in publications such as BeatRoute Alberta, Canadian Beats, CJLO Magazine and The Concordian.

Originally from Calgary, Alberta, I have moved to Montreal, Quebec in order to attend the Journalism School at Concordia University and am currently finishing my 1st year at the University.  Through going to school, I hope to further my skills as a journalist and a writer.

My main areas of knowledge are based in music and sports. I’ve joined Canadian Beats and CJLO as ways to expand my musical tastes and expertise. My interest in music writing began a couple years ago when I had the chance to work for a local music magazine in Calgary, BeatRoute, which pushed me into the deep end of Canadian music.

Like the comedian Martin Mull said, “Talking about music is like dancing about architecture.” Namely, its difficult and subjective. It has been a learning curve and I have tried to embrace every opportunity to continue my growth as a writer. This has been made easier by the fact that I’m a huge music nerd and that I try to listen to a new album every day.

I’ve recently become the Assistant Sports Editor at the Concordian for the coming year.
